Read full description of the books:
In the late 1960s, colour television was the new technology in Britain. Transistors had started to miniaturise electronic equipment, and a race was on between manufacturers to retail the first home video recorder. Ray Evans is a young man working for a multinational electronics company developing some of these new technologies. When he is sent to Amsterdam on a business trip, he encounters a Russian GRU, or Soviet military intelligence agent. One of the functions of the GRU was to procure scientific, industrial, and technological secrets from other countries. Vladimir, the Soviet agent, attempts to recruit Ray into a web of industrial espionage, and when he refuses to cooperate, bad things begin to happen. First-time novelist Roy A Higgins lives in a small village in Lancashire, England. A retired electrical engineer, Higgins says Weekend in Amsterdam is loosely based on his own life experiences. When he visited Amsterdam on a business trip in the late 1960s, he turned down an offer to supply industrial secrets to the Soviet Union. This novel explores what could have happened if the Russian agent making the offer had refused to take no for an answer. Higgins is currently writing his second novel.Publisher's Web site: http: //www.strategicpublishinggroup.com/titl...

Read information about the authorI started writing while teaching night school electronics to electrical apprentices.I put my teaching notes into book form and was published at the first time of asking by Longman Scientific & Technical.
Since retirement I have tried my hand at writing novels as a hobby, and have currently written two of them.
Satan's Whiskers the story of my time while playing in a 60's band, and a serial killer whose murders are linked to the band.
In the late 1960's I befriended a Soviet agent in Amsterdam, who asked me to information gather on behalf of the Soviet Union.I refused but often wondered what might have happened if the agent had refused to take no for an answer, hence my second novel Weekend in Amsterdam.
