Read full description of the books:

This book is still amazeballs and so much happens between Fair and Gomery and with Buildingy and the lot. And basically all the love to Fair and her character development. Because that is some empowering shit right there.

OMG OMG OMG OMG!' All the squees, I can't even with how adorable this all is. It reminds me of those school days when a certain fellow (yes back then it was a guy, whatever) and I spent our history lessons in school flirting and coming up with innuendo loaded kid names. ALL THE FEELS.

Coherent review to come. Now I have to start Stay Awhile, so excuse me.

Ok, real review now. I don't think there is a series that is quite like The Wilfair one which is a good thing because it makes hit sone more awesome. I love the characters and it was great seeing Fair growing up a bit in this one. She is forced out of her tower and into different situations with these people she has always known but never much interacted with. The Montgomerys challenge her which brings me to another amazing part of the books.

The Montgomery cousins are fantastic male characters. I usually end up not caring too much about male characters because boo-hoo they have it so hard, yada yada yada. These guys don't really complain that much though even though they have enough reason to do so. They're complex characters and while they do flirt, they do it in a not blatantly obvious way. It's sweet and shy and that's so refreshing to read. They have conversations and sometimes disagreements with Fair but it's all in good faith. Mostly because they are right a lot the times. They can disagree though without anyone ending up hurt, it's productive discussion or whatever one wants to cal it.

Then, of course there is the magical realism part which is a bit less the focus in this book aside from the shape that's following our characters. At least that's the way it felt to me. Through it, it has allowed the story to get a bit deeper and also raise questions as to what happened to the cousins' mothers. What happened to their fathers? What does Gomery want? I don't have answers to these questions which keeps me reading.

What also keeps me reading is the squee-worthy romance between Gomery and Fair because it is amazingly awesome and cute and OMG! See above, really. They give me all the feels because I can relate to them so much.

I highlighted so many lines though I think the most important one for me was: "You're not on anyone else's timeline. Only your own." This rings true on so many levels because I've been struggling with this on professional as well as personal levels which I am not going to go into further at this point aside from saying, this is something that has to sink in, take root in my head because it's a truth I need to know and recognise.
I'm still convinced Alysia wire tapped my brain to write Fair.

This is long enough now and I have to relocate to bed to read more Stay Awhile.

Pros: I write about travel, hotels, festivals, and food for NBC Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego. The Discovery Prize in American Humor and a regional writing Emmy nomination are two bullet points on my CV. I'm that person who will kiss your dog even though I just met your dog. I pre-like everything.

Cons: I'll sometimes list pros and cons rather than write an actual bio. I'll use "CV" even though I am not British and should probably say "résumé." Eating the leftover French fries off your plate is my thing. I regularly ruin punchlines then make the situation worse by restarting the joke three times.
