THE GIGAWIT DICTIONARY OF THE E-NGLISH LANGUAGE
Welcome to the first satirical book about the Internet!
Every day another cyber-visionary adds another sparkling spire to the fabulous Wired City of the Future: rooms that think, PCs that feel your pain, micro-electrical devices that warn you when you're about to be mugged...
The analog world and its bricks-and mortar dinosaurs have been swept away by a silicon tsunami! The Wired have crushed the Tired! And with them they have brought an outlandish tribal language only THEY can understand!
Do you REALLY know what 'URL' and 'XML' mean? Or the origin of sinister terms like 'drop-and-drag' 'end-user' 'fat media' and worst of all, 'up-time'?
OF COURSE YOU DON'T!!! AT BEST, YOU'RE FAKING IT!
You need to know The REAL MEANING of terms that have made thousands of people with bad skin and all-black wardrobes into BILLIONAIRES!
THE GIGAWIT DICTIONARY OF THE E-NGLISH LANGUAGE.
Hundreds of Web-terms defined in ways YOU NEVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE!
Some sample terms:
drop 'n drag: military term for ordering a soldier to do pushups in woman's clothing.
algorithm: technique of deep hypnosis enabling Al Gore Jr. to clap along at R&B concerts.
silicon: good for memory; bad for mammary.
XML (Extra Medium Large) : Size of T-shirt worn by Paul Allen when he's dieting.
Change agent: One who has made or is about to make, a nice piece of change.
Linux: A character in Peanux.
The GIGAWIT DICTIONARY OF THE E-NGLISH LANGUAGE was compiled by TONY HENDRA Editor-in Chief of SPY and the NATIONAL LAMPOON, and manager IAN FAITH of the loudest band in history, SPINAL TAP.
